Best Man: Holiday- Bringing out the BEST in everybody!

Harper, Julian, Quentin, Lance, Mia, Jordan, Shelby, Robyn, and Candance . . .  The whole gang is back for this powerful and moving sequel about love and life. Secrets that should be told once again get Harper in trouble.  The tangle of old and new loves keep Julian busy.  Jordan, well we know she keeps herself busy and Shelby just makes herself busy in other's business. Successes, failures, friends, FAITH, and faults make for a juicy plot line and a very unlikely but exciting ending.

Terrence Howard,  revives one of my personal favorite roles as "Q" aka Quentin, the straight-no-chaser, womanizing friend with a heart of gold for his friends. Though he is not at the center of the movie, he creates a line across the friendships old and new. This movie is unexpectedly powerful and poignant.

Although I was blessed with a pass, I may pay to see it again.

WARNINGS
sexual and harsh language
small amounts of nudity
Classic one liners from Terrence Howard's character (do not eat or drink if he is talking)

Baggage Claim- Claims the Heart

This is a light hearted romantic comedy. The beautiful Paula Patton stars as Montana Moore a beautiful flight attendant, on a 30 day journey to find a potential date to her sister's wedding in order to quell her mother's worrites and waning over not being married by the age of 30. Jenifer Lewis, said mother, (whose been married 5 times herself) imposes her beliefs on her daughters, (the other daughter being played by Laura London)

In order to find this man or reclaim this lost love she literally makes a mad dash around the United States trying to find him.  Her motley crew of friends (played by Adam Brody and Jill Scott) cook up a scheme to find old boyfriends with the hopes that may have changed. They begin finding the flights her old beaus are flying and booking Montana either to work or fly the flights. Her scheme team, those other employees of "Trans Alliance" Airlines include "outside guy" Rickey SMiley, Lala Anthony, Nephew Tommy and the hilarious Affion Crockett in security.

The eye candy of Taye Diggs, Boris Kojoe, Derek Luke, Tre Songz and Djimon Hounsou  makes this all the more enjoyable ladies!

This movie is light with laughs, a bit predicatable but fun.  Please do not expect deep meanings, but a positive image of a woman discovering who she truly is.

PG-13 Rating

Lee Daniel's "The Butler" serves up quite a story

Forest Whitaker stars as Cecil Gaines, a butler in the White House spanning 8 presidential administrations.  Oprah Winfrey plays his beautiful but often troubled wife.   This is a powerful and poignant story of dignity, integrity, and the changing face of America.  Beginning in rural Georgia, Gaines (Whitaker) is orpnaned through no fault of his own and becomes a house servant (politcally correct term ,not the one used in the movie) at a young age. This skill takes him all the way to the White House. Though this is a presitgious opportunity it comes with its downfalls and troubles.  From Eisenhower to Reagan, things that were seen and heard were painful, powerful, and paradoxical.

I laughed and cried with the movie, its plots and sub plots.  It tells 2 stories at the same time.  It poetically draws a piture of the changing life, names of the Colored/Negro/ Black /African American during these times. There are awesome small parts playes by, Mariah Carey, David Banner, Ya-Ya  (of America's Top Model Fame) Liev Schreiber and the incomaprable Jane Fonda.

2Guns. . .twice the fun

Wahlberg and Washington make for a great bro-mance of sorts. The plot sets you up along the path of the pair finding their way out of their own set up. Two agents get in the middle of a national security money extortion ring, The makeshift pair have more in common than appears to the movie goers` eye.Their unique skills sets under the umbrellas of investigation, get our odd couple investigations pointed at themselves.

Wahlberg and Washingtion are joined by the beautifu Paula Patton and the antagonist but funny Edward James Olmos.Guns drugs money double the double the crossing. This makes for intrigued and hilarious one liners.

WARNING
some nudity, harsh one liners, violence & cursing
Do not eat or drink during Mark Wahlberg`s one liners may cause choking

Kevin Hart- Explains it ALL

I laughed, I cried, I had a headache when I left the theater. If you've seen any of his previous stand-up comedy films "Laugh at my Pain" or " Seriously Funny", this too ranks just as high on the Kevin-Hart-to-see list. He hits you with jokes & fire. His recent divorce, raising his children, family and career all make for copious laughter and a sold out show. This puts him in the category of a few comedians to do a solo show at Madison Square Garden (this includes Andrew Dice Clay & Dane Cook). The prefacing portion of the movie can be a bit confusing at first but it gets you to his frustrating point of needing to EXPLAIN.

I saw it twice already. I laughed so hard I think missed some jokes, gonna see it one more time just to make sure I heard them all.

Turning up the Heat Heat Turned up the laughter

This can be a franchisce in the making,  McCarthy & Bullock bring  a hilarious combination of physical comedy and antics that cause a copius amount of laughter and tears.
There are some surprising performances from up & coming actor/comedian Spoken Reasons Marlon Wayans and some of the best unspoken comedy from Jane Curtain.   Great story lines and sub story lines.  An  strange kindling friendship,   May be cause for a secind viewing.

There is profanity, if that's not your thing please don't see this movie. This one is a break from the male dominated summer hits!
May see it again in theaters kind of movie.

Go see Fast 6 -FAST!

Dom (Diesel) & Brian (Walker) back in action, along with Roman, Han, Giselle, Mia & Tej. You have to expect fast cars, high end electronic devices, expolsives, implausible stunts and the law right on there tails RIGHT?  Perhaps Hobbs aka Dwayne "THE ROCK" Johnson (of whom we met in Fast 5) is on the wrong side of the law or are the F&F gang are on the right side of the law this time?  The line is thin but it makes for great plot build up to this.  The bullets fly and the battle lines that were originally drawn are not so clear . . .  Great fun, nail biting moments. and the constant ribbing between Roman (Tyrese) and Tej (Ludacris) let's you know not much has changed in the gang. We see the reappearance of Leddy and what side she is on. They continue to do what they do best, create a plan and them IMPROVISE.   See it, oh and if you have a few dollars left see it AGAIN!

Give you feedback, did you enjoy it??

The Big Wedding is a big bunch of DYSFUNCTION

When you throw the names Robert DeNiro, Susan Saradon, Diane Keaton, & Katherine Heigl you hope for great dramatic acting and funny antics.  There are some funny antics in this movie, sure but the extremity of political & religious incorrectness can be offending after 89 minutes. While there are funny points and poignant one, the vast amount of slightly inappropriate jokes, becomes boggling and you wonder did the screen writer have the ability to write a joke that did include some type of dysfunction, race, religon, or sexuality.

It's become a cliche of sorts to bring together family at a wedding and bind up wounds or let secrets come out.  This movie seems to do it with big names.  This movie is a streamer at best. No need to run out right away unless you are a diehard fan of these actors.   My Big Fat, Greek Wedding, the Best Man and American Wedding  can fill the void. Not the worse but definitely not the best.

A Crash that takes off

FLIGHT (2012) A crash that takes off

Starting this movie REview!
My last eye catching movie was: FLIGHT- starring Denzel Washington, Don Cheadle and John Goodman! Didn't watch it in the movie theater, but enjoyed the gritty character of Whip Whittaker played by Denzel.
If you are looking for the suave, smooth Denzel that is portrayed in most of his movies, sorry! He is at the least a troubled man with a god-complex and strangely enough, a hero. There's no Hollywood ending. In fact the ending is rather abstract & somewhat head scratching,
The characters are quickly developed. The reaction that Whip's character receives from each one is automatic on either end of the emotional spectrum.. Some sexual & drug content are contained in the movie, just a warning if you are one who would rather not see this. IT has its parts where the story slows but those who look for life lessons in the fantasy land of the movies (as I often do) strangely draws you even though the movie slows, you want to see what will happen in the end, You may want to lighten up with a comedy following this movie. But it's definitely one to remember and put in your Denzel Washington collection.
I'd watch it again!!
